HOW WE DO IT

Our staff are happy to help you deal with your problems by treating you as a responsible adult, offering constructive support without judgement. Consultations are held in confidence and nothing you tell a doctor will be passed on to anyone else, parents, relatives, friends, or University staff without your express permission. The UHS conforms to the Privacy Act (1988) as amended. Your records are securely held. We welcome constructive comments about the practice, and you should feel free to direct any complaints to the Director.

HOW TO SEE A DOCTOR:

APPOINTMENTS: Usually patients are seen by appointment. For a medical problem, you may choose to see a specific doctor or take the first available appointment with any doctor. If you wish to  have a routine consultation (e.g. pap smear, blood pressure check), a medical examination (insurance, diving, etc.), or wish to see a doctor about a long or complex problem, or several problems, an appointment is necessary. Routine appointments are usually made at 10-15 minute intervals (longer where necessary).  To see a specific doctor an appointment is necessary.

A ‘WALK-IN’ service is available for people needing urgent attention.   The 'Walk-in' service gives priority to emergencies, those in pain, distress, illness or discomfort, or otherwise needing urgent attention, and students falling ill during University exams. Otherwise, it operates on a ‘wait-your-turn basis’.

OTHER: Where appropriate home & other visits may be arranged after discussion with your doctor.
