Failure to comply

These recommendations are provided to maximise protection of health care students, and also of patients in NSW health care facilities. Failure to comply may lead to an increased risk of illness, disease and death for students and their patients.

The NSW Department of Health has a policy that requires all health care workers, including students, who undertake training or field work in the NSW health care system, to have a documented screening and vaccination history consistent with the requirements identified in the NSW Department of Health Circular PD2007_006.

Failure to train in the NSW health care system may mean that students might not complete the requirements of the course or degree in which they are enrolled.
